Finally… a start to our Winter Series after an aborted race 1.Overcast skies and a 70 % chance of a shower, didn’t deter the 8 division 1 and 11 division 2 boats from turning up at the start line.We were all a bit “rusty” after the long hiatus since the last race in early April, so spinnaker work was a little “untidy”. Course 7 took the division 1 boats from the triangles to Cannae Point, Nielsen Park, Grotto and home, while division 2 diverted at Sow and Pigs before heading to Grotto. The CYCA Winter fleet was out but we managed to stay out of each other’s way.First to start and finish in division 2 was Bokarra, who managed the handicap win as well. Fastest around the course in that division was the aptly named Fast Company. The handicapper should be pleased with himself - 5 boats within 41 seconds on corrected time.In division 1 Kia Kaha first across the line, win on handicap and best starter at 1 second. A mighty tussle between San Toy and Esprit saw San Toy cross the line 7 seconds ahead of Esprit, with only 46 seconds on handicap, and Absolut 3 seconds behind them… another good result for the handicapper! While there were quite a few on the deck after racing, enjoying the company of the other competitors, there were a lot of “jackpots” when the prizes were handed out!Thank you to the stand in race directors off Esprit - Jess, Chelsea and Federico - while Race Director Greg is out of the country. Thank you also to the race committee - Jess, Mark and Ben, RSA Cary and our sponsors Hart Automotive Services, Pepper Tree Wines and Peter Wilkins family for the starter’s prizes.More images here: photos.app.goo.gl/gvdom4GqW57attED6Results here: app.sailsys.com.au/club/23/results/series/1818/races ...
